COMPOSERS CLUB
by Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
Composer Feature: Timo Andres
Twenty-nine year old Timo Andres first came to Orpheus’ attention as a finalist for the orchestra’s Project 440 commissioning initiative in 2011. A graduate from the Yale School of Music and currently living in Brooklyn, Timo has already earned broad recognition for his commanding musical statements. Known for blending multiple musical influences within classical forms, Timo’s music has been described by The New Yorker critic Alex Ross as achieving “an unhurried grandeur that has rarely been felt in American music since John Adams came on the scene.”
This season Timo creates his first new work for Orpheus entitled Word of Mouth, as part of the orchestra’s American Notes series that explores our current American identity from a variety of different perspectives. Word of Mouth premieres at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 7PM.
